Overdose Scare
This morning I gave Liliana some Children's Tylenol because she is teething and has been sick lately. I put the bottle with the measuring suction "cup" inside the bottle, on the counter where I knew no one could reach it. Then put Liliana down for a nap. While I was doing that, Wynter had grabbed a chair, pushed it to the counter and took the medicine. A lot was on the floor and around her mouth. We had no idea how much she took so we called Bitburg Pediatrics office. Of course they didn't pick up because they never answer their damn phones. So we got ready and headed to Spangdahlem's Pediatrics office. The decided she looked fine but couldn't get the blood results back in the time they wanted them, so they sent us to Bitburg Hospital (German hospital). We got there, and no one told us there wasn't a pediatric doctor/nurse working so we sat around until they decided to give her Charcoal liquid (REAL COAL, imagine how that tasted!) to stop the medicine from absorbing all the way or something like that. It was black and thick and Wynter had about 5 sips before she refused to drink it. Soo off we went to Wittlich hopital to help her. We got there and they knew we were coming because the other doctors called them. They took 4 things of her blood and she did not even flinch. I would have been crying as soon as I seen the needle! She got weighed, took her height and we were admitted. They had to send the blood 1 hour and 30 minutes away..by TAXI!!!!! The patient liason (sp?) gave us a DVD player and some movies from base to watch while Wynter was hooked up to machines to monitor her heart, etc. 2 hours passed and they finally came in to tell us that the results looked like she didn't even get anything from it but I know she got something because the ring around her mouth proved it! Thank GOD things turned out as good as they did. At first they said we would have to stay over night then 48 hours and finally they said we could go home. It has a been a long day and I already know how bad things could have turned out, should have been more careful, etc. so I really don't need anyone emailing me and lecturing me! Thanks!
