A whole year..

We have been one of the "lucky" military couples that haven't had to deal with a deployment yet and we have been together 9 years. Of course we have had a fair share of TDYs and him tripping out to the field and if you add up all those days and training days he was gone for half a year but we have never had to be apart for a year. Looking back, the years have flown by, I can only hope it will fly by and he will be back in Alaska before we know it. We arrived at the airport November 1st around 3:00am. He drove to the airport, as soon as we backed out of the garage, I quietly started to cry. Over the drive, I heard little sniffles coming from the back seat. I turned around and it was Liliana. She is so much like me, poor kid. She is sensitive and doesn't want others to see her cry. My heart breaks for Wynter and Liliana. They will not have their father for a whole year. No kid should have to go through that but so many do. I am sure things will get a little easier once we get a routine down again. I am going to make the kids a Deployment wall and countdowns. Today the kids have both had moments where they just start to cry for Barry and say they miss him and want to call him. He should be to Korea sometime today, I don't even know. It is going to take a few days for him to get settled in his dorm room and get internet hooked up, I hope someone lets him use their internet so he can Skype or send me a quick email since his cell phone is shut off. Today I can't help but think I really should have stayed in Wyoming until he was back from Korea. I was already established in my house and knew everything and everyone. I can't help but feel like the time would have went by faster because my best friend and I hung out almost every day. I am thankful we are in Alaska and we finally have the chance to be here after wanting this for so long, it sucks it took Korea to get this assignment. I am thankful that I do know a couple of people here. Sigh. Tomorrow is a new day and another day down. :/
